Fun Weekend in Subic

We went to Subic over the weekend to visit Zoobic and Ocean Adventure.  It was actually intended for my nephew and nieces but I think I enjoyed the most. Haha…

Anyway, Zoobic is your typical zoo but my favorite highlights are:

Tiger Safari. You’ll board a Safari jeepney and enter a natural habitat of tigers.  For Php200, you can feed a chicken to the tigers.  The guide will dangle the chicken through a window slot in the jeepney and tigers would hungrily eat the raw chicken – yep through the window grills and just a few inches away if you’re in the window side!  The tiger encounter is actually just a few minutes but it’s such an experience.

Aeta’s trail.  You’ll get a chance to see Aetas perform tribal music and dance.  What really amazed me was the monkey dance. (Sorry but the following will be a spoiler.) At the start of the performance, our guide announced that we should clear the area near a tree because she said, there will be a monkey who will appear later.  So during the monkey dance, an Aeta just leaped out and climbed the tree – he was 15 ft up the tree in a couple of seconds!  Just wow…

Entrance fees to Zoobic are Php449 for adults and Php349 for kids.  Other optional charges are Php50/pax to ride the Zooper Train, Php20/feeding bottle to feed baby goats and Php200/raw chicken to feed tigers.  The zoo is open from 8am to 4pm daily.

As for Ocean Adventure, the highlights are its shows (its collection of species is very limited).  All shows are great – the sealion show, the high dive exhibition and the Dolphin and Beluga whale show.  I’ve been to a couple of ocean adventure shows and they never fail to entertain me every time.:)

Entrance fees to Ocean Adventure are Php450 for adults and Php370 for kids.  The park is open from 9am to 6pm daily.

For accommodations, you may want to try Courtyard Inn along Waterfront Road.  Nice location, the rooms are clean and the service is superb. Overnight rate is only about Php3,000+. I actually discovered it via reviews in tripadvisor.com.  To contact Courtyard Inn, you may call +63 47 2522366 or +63 47 2522367.
